Dyspraxia/DCD Ireland are thrilled to announce that we have progressed from being a County Winner to becoming one of the 34  National Finalist in the  National Lottery Good Causes Awards 2023 out of hundreds of exceptional applications. According to Jennifer Crowe, CSR & Good Causes Relationship Manager at the National Lottery

“This is a huge achievement as the calibre of applications in this year’s competition was truly extraordinary”.

In 2022 we received National Lottery funding for our POTTS programme. POTTS stands for Partnering in Occupational Therapy Telehealth Services. Dyspraxia/DCD Ireland partnered with the University of Limerick in March 2020 at a time when COVID had closed down most of the country. The University of Limerick were struggling to find placements for their Occupational Therapy (OT) students and we were struggling to raise awareness of dyspraxia/DCD in the clinical field. The partnership provided a wonderful opportunity for us to work together to use innovative telehealth services to realise the goals of both organisations. Together with the University of Limerick we have put in place a best practice programme utilising occupational therapy students and developing a range of services that enables us to provide online clinical services to children and adults with DCD while at the same time allowing OT students to complete their placement hours. The funding we received from the National Lottery has enabled us to progress with developing this service post COVID and we are extremely proud of our DCD assessment and support service; the only one of its kind in Ireland.

Dyspraxia/DCD Ireland would like to say a huge thank you to the National Lottery Good Causes adjudicators for recognising the work we do on behalf of people with dyspraxia/DCD, their families and the professionals who support them and to also say congratulations and best of luck to all of the other National Finalists! Winners in each of the categories will be announced on the 21st October 2023.
